Everything You Need to Know About
Skilled Nursing locations (also called Nursing Homes or Rehabilitation Centers) are a form of senior care designed to provide specialized and individualized physical, mental, and medical care for seniors. Unlike Assisted Living or Memory Care, Skilled Nursing is designed specifically to restore the physical, mental, and emotional health of the individual. Skilled Nursing services often include physical therapy, occupational/speech therapy, medication management, and general rehabilitation.
Skilled Nursing Overview
Skilled Nursing provides a high level of assistance with the tasks associated with everyday living, depending on the health of the individual. Skilled Nursing is specifically for seniors who are in need of rehabilitation, either short-term or long-term. Given the common limitations of health related issues, most Skilled Nursing locations don’t offer a wide variety of activities and events for patients.
Skilled Nursing locations usually offer personal services on a regular basis, including laundry, meal preparation, etc. The best reason to consider Skilled Nursing is the level of medical care that patients receive, something unmatched by Assisted Living or Memory Care locations. A patient’s personal freedom is heavily dependent upon the condition of the individual, but generally speaking, more limited than Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Independent Living.
