Everything You Need to Know About

Assisted Living

Assisted Living is a form of long term senior care that provides conveniences common to every-day living, such as food preparation, bathing, transportation, and more.  Unlike Independent Living, Assisted Living is best for seniors who need a little help with daily tasks.  Assisted Living does not usually deal with Alzheimer’s or dementia related illnesses like Memory Care does, nor is it meant for specialized nursing or care services like Skilled Nursing.

Assisted Living Overview

Assisted Living provides comprehensive assistance with daily living.  In general, Assisted Living is best for seniors who are relatively healthy and do not have severe medical or mental problems.  It is common for Assisted Living homes and communities to offer a wide variety of activities for their residents, ranging from simple game nights to regularly scheduled outings and events.

Generally speaking, Assisted Living homes and communities offer regular services such as laundry, cleaning, and cooking.  While it’s not Memory Care or Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living can help manage the medications of their residents, as well as oversee the general health of the seniors.  Assisted Living provides less freedom than Independent Living, but overall personal freedom will vary from community to community and individual to individual.
