Everything You Need to Know About

Independent Living

Independent Living is a form of long term senior living that allows for an unparalleled level of personal freedom while also providing many of the perks of senior living.  Unlike Assisted Living or some Memory Care locations, Independent Living does not usually provide assistance with daily living, such as bathing, preparing meals, or personal hygiene.  Independent Living is for seniors who are healthy enough (physically and mentally) to still take care of themselves.

Independent Living Overview

Independent Living provides little to no assistance with the tasks associated with everyday living.  The Independent Living option assumes that seniors are in good health, and are able to take care of themselves with no problems.  Several Independent Living communities offer regularly scheduled social activities across many categories, including game nights, outings, local events, etc.

Depending on the community, Independent Living can offer a wide variety of services, including laundry, and house/apartment cleaning.  These services vary from location to location.  Most Independent Living locations don’t offer nursing or medication management support like Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, or Memory Care might.  However, the level of personal freedom at Independent Living is unmatched by any other form of senior living.
